Great Cormorant

Description:

This is a large (about 100cm in length) and dark coloured aquatic bird. The adults presented here are at the beginning of their courtship period, during which they acquire varying amount of white feathers on head and neck; and that white thigh patch.

Habitat:

Very common bird in and around freshwater lakes in mountainous regions of French Alps and Prealps - here, on Annecy lake.
