Translucent Leaf Moth

Herdonia thaiensis Inoue, 1993

Description:

This beautiful moth has broad, distinct golden colour bands across both the fore and hind wings. The first two hind wing bands have black borders. There are distinct black and white patches and marks across and on the fore wings. Spaces in between the bands are translucent. It sits in an 'eagle-take-off position'. Wingspan: 52mm

Habitat:

Sub-urban building, surrounded by bamboo and mixed forests. The area has lots of natural spring water, to suggest quite a swampy place. Cool to warm. Altitude: about 1,700m.

Notes:

On day one I took some photos without disturbing it. On the day-4 I managed to coax it to a plain paper for a tidier background.
