Description:

They are called slug moths because their caterpillars bear a distinct resemblance to slugs. The wingspan is 21–30 mm. Adults are on wing from May to August. The larvae feed on the leaves of beech, hickory, ironwood, and oak.

Habitat:

Spotted in the backyard. Attracted to lights. Mixed woods nearby.
