This yellow thistle plant was researched through Peterson's Field Guide for Wildflowers which calls this plant yellow thistle. The flower head is large (about 3 inches) and can be purple or white. The plant has deeply incised, extremely bristly or prickly leaves.
Grows in sandy soil, fields, shores, salt marshes. This yellow thistle plant was spotted in a salt marsh at St Marks National Wildlife Refuge.
