Western Ribbon Snake

Thamnophis proximus

Description:

A slender snake with a black back and light belly. There is a reddish-brown dorsal stripe with a thin, light stripe on either side of it. This was a young one, only about 6 inches long.

Habitat:

Found in south-central North America near water. This guy was found in a woodland area under a log.
