Stereum

Stereum sp

Description:

Small clumps of dark brown-centred brackets with pale concentric rings. Every bracket had a smooth velvety underside with a part of it adherent to the wood. Emerging brackets were seen as small patches of white along cracks on the log.

Habitat:

Damp log in a moist forest gully - tall eucalyptus forest

Notes:

Unsure if this is Stereum hirsutum. Will have to research further but I would be happy if anyone can confirm.
