Trumpeter Swan

Cygnus buccinator

Description:

An adult male and female Trumpeter Swan with their three young celebrating a renewal of their commitment to each other (I believe)

Habitat:

On an open area of the lake kept free of ice by the river flowing into it

Notes:

For a while now I've wondered if Trumpeter Swans, who I'm told mate for life, renew their commitment to each other like other large birds such as Sandhill Cranes. On this particular day I notice two separate families with young where the male appeared to be courting or romancing the female in a family-type celebration. I'm not an expert in the field but have been observing and photographing Trumpeter Swans for four winters now. These are some of the images I've captured of their courtships or what I believe to be so.
