Red Tailed Black Cockatoo

Calyptorhynchus banksii

Description:

Gorgeous, big black bird. Black beak, and some red or orange markings on tail. Noisy. About 50/60cm in length. The first three pictures are a female and the last two are a male.

Habitat:

Near the coast feeding in trees. Flying Fish Point, Queensland, Australia.

Notes:

I can not get enough of these birds. I never knew they existed and now I have to go check them out. They seem to "live" around this area. Huge flocks ( about 20 birds ) fly over and always seem to feed in the same two trees at the same beach. Lucky me!
