Loggerhead Sea Turtle

Caretta caretta

Description:

All turtles (except softshells) have 13 main scutes on their shells - count next time you see one!

Notes:

I was part of a study group that was allowed to accompany biologists collecting loggerhead eggs for conservation in Rio Lagartos. While we were out, they also released eggs that had been safely hatched at their facility.
