Description:

I found this bird along Way Kanan River - Way Kambas National Park - Sumatera - Indonesia. Large Kingfisher (35 cm) and very beautiful. Indigo color on the back, with diagnostic massive red bill. Crown, sides of face and nape is grey - brown. Underparts pinkish orange. The calling is very loud, sharp, laughing cry. Iris is brown, bill is red and the feed is red. It's a quite tame bird.

Habitat:

Forest edge, along the river.
