Herring Gull

Larus argentatus

Notes:

Now that the polar vortex seems to have officially left Chicago, there appear to be fewer herring gulls around. Larger than ring-billed gulls, this one which was part of a pair, easily fended off several ring-billed gulls to scavenge a shoreline spot along Lake Michigan.
