Description:

The second largest of our five anthophora species, (just slightly smaller than the hairy footed flower bee). The males have ginger coloured hairs whereas the females are jet black. Similar looking to a bumblebee but with a higher pitched flight tone and larger eyes.They favourite lungwort and other tubular spring flowers. Often seen in gardens.

Habitat:

seen in ancient woodlands covered in bluebells and wild garlic.
