Booted Rackettail Hummingbird

Ocreatus underwoodii

Description:

iridescent green hummingbird, extremely long tail feathers

Habitat:

cloudforest, 2200m

Notes:

This hummingbird visited the flowers of an orchid I was photographing in Chicaque natural park. It was totally unexpected and took off just as quick as it arrived. One of the coolest hummingbirds I've ever seen. I only saw this species once.
