Eastern Bluebird

Sialia sialis

Description:

Small bird with blue head, back and tail; white chest and white w/brown lower body.

Habitat:

Seen in my backyard; backyard is edged by woods.

Notes:

These pictures aren't high quality as I was shooting through the screen of the back door as the bird sat on the clothesline. The backyard is very quiet and seems to be a shopping plaza for birds looking for worms, bugs and grubs. These birds would be on a tree branch or the tree trunk then swoop down onto the grass. They would be on the ground for mere seconds....just long enough to grab a bug/grub/worm and then dash back into the cover of the trees. They also seem to favor "dancing" on the roof of the shed. I'm really hoping these are Eastern Bluebirds!
