Golden Scalycap

Pholiota aurivella

Description:

A beautiful golden yellow highly viscid cap with a few flecks of dark brown. Pale gills had a pink blush and were crowded. The gills had droplets of moisture close to the margin and suspended in the droplets was a dark brown material - ? spores (pics 3 & 5). The sturdy stipes were a golden yellow, same as the cap but had a rough texture with fine scales. This solitary mushroom appeared to be growing in a groove on the tree.

Habitat:

Spotted on a native tree - ? species in a damp Eucalyptus forest.

Notes:

Spotted after a few days of heavy rainfall. This mushroom appeared fresh and very viscid, as they are said to become when moist. The ID needs confirmation. Previously spotted in the same forest http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/116...
