Repsimus aeneus
Beautiful black, green & blue glossy beetle, approx. 30mm long, the light reflects a metallic gloss from all parts of the beetle including the legs, black eyes, wide flattened appearance to whole shell, dented appearance, small white hairs appear from under the front of the out wing shell area, feeds on Eucalyptus & paperbark leaves and some blossoms. Larvae are found in the soil as white curl grub types.
Found in most eastern regions of Australia, feeds on Eucalyptus leaves. This one found in dry Eucalypt woodland walking along the ground in the leaf litter.

Thanks Lauren.
So beautiful and really powerful hind legs.
Thankyou SukanyaDatta. I often find left over shells from these beetles and others, collect them up and polish them on my T-shirt just to see glossy they can get. The way the colours change in the light and the intensity and gloss make beetle shells incredibly beautiful.
What a gorgeous insect. Quite puts the peacock to shame.
Thanks venusflytrap2000 and Mark. It was quite large and stopped me in my tracks on the walk.
What an amazing beetle and 30mm is a decent size.
awesome glow/shine to this beetle! never seen anything like it!
Thank you SargonR! The outer shell colour & shine is something any metal polisher would be proud of.
Amazing looking beetle, very nice!
