Description:

About 4-5 mm in length, metallic blue with red legs as shown.

Habitat:

Found on wet bones of a deceased livestock animal on a private ranch. Native habitat is degraded shortgrass prairie, but with riparian areas and artificial reservoirs and ponds, too.

Notes:

A common species on mammalian carrion, especially the hides.
