Description:

A solitary young cap. About 25mm across. Scaly cap, but this one is very small compared to say 'Spectacular Rustgills' Growing directly from an exposed eucalyptus root.

Habitat:

Tall eucalyptus rainforest in a national park.

Hymenium is not adnexed enough for my liking... but this ID will do for a while.

Consider Gymnopilus dilepis, G. purpuratus, G. aeruginosus, G. luteofolius.

I think it is likely a 'magic' species. If the mushroom bruises a blue/green shade this would be confirmed.

Actually I think it's too small for that. It already has no signs of a veil and is only 25mm.
