Sturnus vulgaris
Adults are glossed black with greenish to purple shine. Spots over plumage visible at times. Brown stripes on wings and tail.
Perching on fence near lagoon.
This is one of a small flock of Starlings that spend hours near the bay. I have noticed a Starling eating ripe salmon berries. Often the Starlings forage along the beach and in the kelp beds left exposed by low tides.

I love common birds. They feel close. The extravagant looking ones are only for admiration from afar :)
