Bald Eagle

Haliaeetus leucocephalus

Description:

Mature Eagles are large birds with a white head, dark shades of brown wings and body, white tail feathers. Yellow eye, beak and yellow feet.

Habitat:

Bay inlet,river basin.

Notes:

I was bird watching and waiting for a break in wet weather at the bay so I took a break. This very large Eagle landed 20 ft away from where I was sitting. It was very windy and high tide. I was so surprised to see an Eagle out at high tide. Usually I see Eagles out in sun or rain, daylight or darkness on low tides. It spent a few moments perched before being mobbed by black birds. Then it flew over the bay making towards the dense forest.
