Polypore bracket fungi on a rotting branch. Photos #4 & 5 were taken yesterday, two weeks after the initial spotting in late June. The change in this fungi is quite pronounced, its colour turning from the golden brown hues to much paler creams and white. The final photo (#6) is of a nearby bracket, I think the same species, but this one has turned almost white and is covered in some sort of coating. Could these two fungi be WHITE PUNK?
Spotted by the freshwater lake on the University of Queensland Campus in Brisbane. Moist and shaded area only a couple of metres from lakes edge, beneath native cypress and eucalypts. Lots of leaf litter and dead branches.

Cheers, Mark. I'm keeping an eye on these two just to see how they change over time. The second fungus makes sense. White Punk was just a long shot.
I think pic 6 is covered by a second fungus.. maybe a Hypomyces sp. The others look too 'thin' for the white punk. In pic 5 attachment is spreading downwards over the substrate which doesn't seem white punkish. The timber it is on might be key?
