Double-humped Pococera Moth

Pococera expandens

Description:

Pyralid Moth (Pyralidae) in the Genus Pococera. It's also called the Striped Oak Webworm Moth. This is one of twenty-six species in the genus for North America. Wingspan is approximately 26 mm.

Habitat:

This one was photographed at a porch light at the edge of a southern deciduous forest.

Notes:

Hodges#5608. Per BAMONA, this spotting is a new species record for Edgefield County, SC. There is not much on-line information on the natural history of this moth.
