Brown Honeyeater

Lichmera indistincta

Description:

Medium to small sized honeyeater found throughout Australia and New Guinea. Light grey underparts, mid grey with olive yellow above, thin, mid length slightly curved beak, brush tipped tongue for sipping flower nectar, tiny yellow dot behind eyes, yellow lining to part of beak. Feeds on nectar when available, insects. Has a loud melodic call, sometimes raspy.

Habitat:

Found throughout Australia and does migrate (which they are doing at present travelling north). this one found in high country garden setting adjacent to woodland in spiky grevillea plant.
