Description:

About 17-19 mm in length, maybe slightly larger, robust, colored black with metallic green and red as shown.

Habitat:

Attracted to a blacklight in a suburban residential neighborhood near a narrow riparian corridor. Most other "habitat" is heavily landscaped with lawns, various ornamental trees and shrubs.

Notes:

These "ground beetles" are excellent climbers, pursuing prey into the treetops.
