Homaeotarsus bicolor

Description:

About 8-10 mm in length, very slender, colored as shown. Short wing covers (elytra) are characteristic of the family Staphylinidae.

Habitat:

Attracted to a blacklight in the backyard of a suburban residential home near a narrow riparian area. Otherwise, "habitat" is heavily landscaped with lawns and various ornamental trees and shrubs.

Notes:

Rove beetles are predatory on other insects.
