Oleander Hawk Moth (prepupal larva) (Cocoon)

Daphnis nerii

Description:

Orange and black.(last instar) Green and black ones also seen. Has this thing sticking out of its butt(?) Two black spots. Small black head.

Habitat:

Found in my school 3 larvaes seen in total. One big adult was seen weeks ago. (However no visible oleander in sight?) On the same day of release of the moth we kept, another dead oleander moth was found

Notes:

2Green larvaes were found dead. The orange last instar was found 4levels above. It was caught by my class. Really jumpy. We gave it leaves and it spun a canopy of leaves over it. Then it lost it's colour and excreted lots of liquid. It soon became a cocoon. Cocoon darkened became translucent. Wing pattern was visible. Moth emerged soon after. Precise time was unknown as it was left in class at night. Released in the morning. Didn't fly the whole day. Oh. It's a female:)
