Eastern Sedge Frog

Litoria fallax

Description:

Also known as Eastern Dwarf Tree Frog, Green Reed Frog. Tiny (less than 20mm), this specimen is bright green with the distinctive eye stripes visible, lighter underbelly. Feeds on tiny insects. Call is a high pitched ratchet sound.

Habitat:

Found throughout eastern Australia near water, plants that hold water in leaf folds, gardens, moist and sem-dry areas not far from water. This one near man made dam moving along the ground between reeds.

Notes:

This little frog appeared thinner showing more skeleton under the skin, possibly an older specimen or suffering from something making it lose weight.

Thanks Neil! I've uploaded 4 or 5 others of the same species earlier - all incredibly cute. They're starting to call again lately so more rain might be on the way. Looking at the great cloud formations today I think they might be right!
