False Underwing Moth

Description:

Family: Erebidae, Subfamily: Erebinae. A very large group of moths that include Underwings, Zales and Related Owlets. TL:19-24 mm. Wingspan: 31.75 mm. Peppery grayish brown FW has wide black band in basal area. Orbicular spot is a black dot. ST line has two black blotches. HW is yellow with a wide blackish border. Hosts: Black gum, hickory and walnut.
