Tetratomid Beetle

Penthe obliquata

Description:

In this genus the two species are most easily separated by the color of the scutellum. P. obliquata has an orange scutellum, while in P. pimelia the scutellum is black.

Habitat:

Found in dry fungi, or under the bark of decaying trees.

Notes:

Thanks to Michael Geiser for the ID! I found these beetles under the bark of a tree stump on the edge of the woods. There were 3 huddled together.
