Common Sun Skink

Description:

Eutropis multifasciata (Kuhl, 1820) (family Scincidae) (syn. Mabuya multifasciata Fitzinger, 1826), is known as Many-lined or Common Sun Skink, Gold Skink, Ground Skink, Garden Lizard. It can be identified by the five or seven dark lines on its ventral surface parallel to its body line. It is a large thick-set skink with a total length of around 35cm. The color of the flanks can vary from an olive-brown to a reddish-orange. Throat color can vary from white to yellow; the tip of the snout is often flushed with reddish orange. It feeds mainly on insects and gives birth to live young. The species ranges from India to southern China, Burma, Thailand and Indochina, down to West Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. Skinks are lizards belonging to the family Scincidae. Together with several other lizard families, including Lacertidae, they comprise the superfamily or infraorder Scincomorpha. (Wikipedia).
