White Stork

Ciconia ciconia

Description:

A couple of large White Storks flying over our house in Turkey. Seeing the underside of them as they fly over you can see a broad black band against the rest of the white body. There legs always look neatly tucked together in flight. You can see that one of these birds has lost one of its wing feathers, but it has not affected its ability to soar with apparent ease.

Habitat:

There are large groups of White Storks which regularly nest in Selçuk, a town a few kilometres away from our house.
