Platyceps najadum
Our garden wall started sprouting little Dahl Whip Snakes today, well two of them anyway. The first one in the main photo was slightly thinner than a pencil and had the distinctive greyish green head with black spots edged with white running down the edge of its body, which get smaller and eventually fade out all together where the body colour changes to a reddish brown. In the second smaller snake you can see the milky white underside and the lovely amber colour of the eyes.
These snakes are common to this area of Turkey and can be found living in and around dry stone walls and rocks.
