Pipe Snake

Cylindrophis melanotus

Description:

A small snake with a very short tail. The head and tail are about the same shape and size (p 5). Locals called the snake a two-headed snake. The dorsal are crimson red (p 4). When disturbed the snake will stick up and flatten its tail to show a threatening posture like a cobra (p 1). People think the snakes are venomous and deadly. They are actually harmless. They are common in Sulawesi.

Dry land.
