Large Tolype Moth

Description:

Family: Lasiocampidae (Tent Caterpillar and Lappet Moths) Common. Total Length: 17-28 mm (This was on the large size). Very hairy. Gray FW has contrasting white veins. AM and double PM lines are whitish. ST line is evenly curved along its length. Females are less well marked and paler than females. Hosts: Deciduous trees including apple, ash, birch, elm, oak and plum.

Habitat:

Found hanging out during the day (probably overnight) at light outside. (Near woodlands, lawn and meadow.)
