Biting Fly

Tabinid

Description:

Black fly, orange patterns on eyes.

Habitat:

Found in a yard surrounded by mixed forest.

Notes:

This fly landed on my leg. Each time I hit it as hard as I could. The last time it fell to the ground. I picked it up by one leg and took these pictures. One tough fly. There are many species of biting flies here but this is the first time i've seen a black one. About 20 miles from my house.
