Lappet Moth

Lasiocampidae

Description:

Pic #1. The large group of moth larvae was spotted on Jan 3.Pic #2. I checked on them every day and, on Jan 11, some appeared to be pupating by creating their chrysalis inside rolled up leaves. Pics #3 and #4. On Jan 22, I saw this moth (and some others higher up on the tree and did not present any opportunity for more photos). The Larvae and the emerged Moths look very much like Lasiocampidae. That was no surprise, but I would, obviously like to have a more complete identification. So, I am still search through the internet and hopt have a species name, sometime soon.

Habitat:

This large gathering of caterpillars was spotted in our backyard on a Black plum tree (Syzygium cumini) known as Lomboi in this part of the Philippines. Plant info. - http://www.stuartxchange.org/Duhat.html
