Brown Dung Beetle

Onthophagus gazella

Description:

Small scarab of around 14mm in length. Brown elytra with a lighter outline, black protonum and head, with the latter featuring two 'horns'; protonum has an orange patch and first leg segment is also orange. Originally from Africa, it was introduced into Australia and the Americas, where it is now well established and has expanded its range.

Habitat:

Found on cattle station in tropical grassland area, with few trees.
