Hemipenthes velutina

Description:

One of the five Hemipenthes species in the Iberian peninsula. It mesures 10 mm and has a stout black body, hairy with a white line in the abdomen. The wings are tained in brown except the apical areas that are transparent. The shape of the edge of the stained area is specific of each Hemipenthes species. Larvae parasite diverse icneumonid wasps. Imagi feed on nectar.
