Spiny Stick Insect, Phasmid

Haaniella echinata

Description:

Stick Insects in love, wearing their hearts on their wings :D The shapes of the pseudo wings are heart-shaped. One of the most common Phasmid to be found in Mulu National Park, they are practically every where, but its nice when you see a pair. H.echinata is the biggest among their genus, Haaniella. The Females grows up to the length of 13 cm whereas the Males up to 9 cm. It is not just their length in size that impresses, but their thickness/robustness with big spines that makes them stands out among other thin/scrawny Stick Insects.
