Killdeer

Charadrius vociferus

Description:

Young bird in a grassy area at the base of some trees near parking lot. Resembles a killdeer in shape, but lacks the distinctive black ring around neck. Several adult killdeer in the area doing the broken wing act, but not positive this was their nest.

Habitat:

City park, ground nest among tall grasses and the base of a tree.
