Medium sized buffy brown owl with large prominent ear tufts; buff nuchal-collar edged with dark brown, finely streaked underparts, ans buffish scapular spots; dark orange or brown eyes; very variable in colouration, can be pale grey-brown or warm rufous-brown; legs feathered to base of toes.
