A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Pandion haliaetus
Once brought to the brink of extinction through the overuse of DDT, this pandemic bird, has recovered and in populous parts of its range, you can find nests about every 1/2 mile along rivers and other bodies of water. They are often found in manmade structures: electrical poles, parking lot lights and more. The female was calling back and forth to her mate while one of the young was stretching and testing its wings.
