Arhopala sp.
A species of Arhopala, a genus of the "Blues and Coppers" (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae). Perhaps A. herculina? The upperside of the wings (not depicted) is indigo-purple. Arhopala is a very large genus containing over 200 species collectively known as oakblues. They occur from Japan throughout temperate to tropical Asia south and east of the Himalayas to Australia, New Guinea and the Solomon Islands of Melanesia.
Spotted on a jackfruit tree in a large semi-urban yard & garden near a disturbed patch of remnant forest, in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.

Yes me too. I just wish they'd open their wings at rest, and that the smaller ones would rest, once in a while ;-)
I like this family of butterflies. :))
