Calochortus macrocarpus
A large wildflower in the lily family. There are three bluish purple petals. The plant is about 0.5 m tall. Leaves are blue-green and grass-like. The bulbs are tapering like a carrot and are edible - can be eaten raw or cooked.
Spotted along Bear Creek road - a remote area near Pearrygin Lake State Park in north central Washington state. This is a sagebrush scrub area in the Cascade foothills.
Harvested by early Native Americans in Pacific northwest.
