Chalcophora angulicollis
A relatively large wood-boring beetle about 30 mm in length. Greyish brown and black markings with an iridescent bronze luster that is mostly on the underside. Very noisy flyers.
Spotted in Ponderosa pine and Douglas fir dominant coniferous forest in eastern Washington.
Adults feed on pine needles, but larvae feed on the wood inside.
