Cattle Egret

Bubulcus ibis

Habitat:

breed in coastal barrier islands, marshes, reservoirs, lakes, quarries, swamps, riverside woodlands, and upland forests. During spring and fall migration they stop along marine shorelines as well as in farm fields. Suburban settings along hedges, parks, roadsides.

Notes:

There were about 7-8 of them hunting Halloween Pennant dragonflies (which were very numerous today). They would walk along the field in the strange position seen in pic 2 at the same time undulating their necks from side to side. Then darting to catch a dragonfly breakfast.
