Cortinarius

Description:

A solitary mushroom with a 40 mm wide cap which was slightly sticky and covered with soil and wood debris that was difficult to remove. The cap was a pale yellow with a deeper colour towards the centre. Gills and stipe were a pale orange yellow (or pale salmon pink) and the stipe had a distinct bulb at the base which was fully underground ( marginate bulb). No collar seen as in a volva. Spore print was a rust brown.

Habitat:

Spotted at the base of a eucalyptus tree in a nature reserve.
