American Coot

Fulica americana

Description:

Hanging out with wintering ducks

Habitat:

The shore of a freshwater lake (Lake Washington), in the Pacific Northwest.

Notes:

As bird books say, these birds make very weird noises. None came out of the water enough to show their unique feet. Hope to see some chicks this spring at the same park!
