Leaf Roller Moth

Clepsis sp.

Description:

A small 1 cm reddish-brown moth on a Peach Tree. It was incredibly well camouflaged on the bark of the tree. Family Tortricidae (Leaf Roller Moths), Subfamily Torticinae. The larvae roll a leaf together with silk to hide in while feeding.

Habitat:

Semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico 2,200 meters.
