Grey pratincole

Glareola cinerea

Description:

Small and stocky pratincole, some 20 cm in length. Mostly pale grey above, and white below, with distinguished pale rusty nape, and buff breast. It also sports red legs, red bill base and black mask and black stripes around the face. Pale grey crown.

Habitat:

The only time I recorded and clicked this bird was on those temporary sandbanks on river Congo, in June 2013 - in that season, many temporary islands form on Congo river near Kinshasa; or between Kinshasa and Brazzaville; and they become a paradise for a birdwatcher...

Notes:

Either the search function doesn't work properly, or this is a first Grey pratincole spotting on NOAH????
